NATION’S TOP SNOW SCULPTING COMPETITION

 SET FOR LAKE GENEVA, WISCONSIN

Since 1996, the nation’s top snow sculptors have packed their hand tools (power tools of any sort are not permitted) and headed to southeastern Wisconsin to compete in the nation’s premier snow sculpting competition – the U.S. National Snow Sculpting Championship – set for January 30 through February 3, 2008 in the resort town of Lake Geneva, WI.  Held in conjunction with the town’s 13th annual Winterfest celebration, the event matches 15 teams from as far away as Alaska as they create intricate pieces of art from three-ton, 10-foot-high cylinders of snow.

The event is truly a love affair for the participants as the team’s labor for three days and nights in harsh temperatures to compete in a competition offering glory and bragging rights.  The U.S. National Snow Sculpting Championship offers no cash prizes, only the chance to be proclaimed the best by your peers.

Additional Winterfest activities include a winter carnival, torchlight parade and fireworks at The Mountain Top at Grand Geneva Resort & Spa; horse-drawn carriage rides; helicopter rides; and a 1-mile, 5k and 10k walk/run.
