You’ll get to learn about this very different member of the Mushroom Family as we make many different dishes highlighting the diverse tastes of this wonderful delicacy. Since the Morel Mushroom only sprouts from mid-April through mid-June, this is the perfect time to catch it in all its glory! Gather your family and friends and enjoy this unique experience with a “hands-on” cooking class exploring the Morel Mushroom. From appetizer to dessert, you’ll be a cooking a delectable four course meal incorporating the Morel in different aspects throughout each dish. Try your hand at the rudiments of blacksmithing using traditional 19th-century tools and a coal-fired forge. You'll be able to fashion all sorts of useful items during the workshop, and will receive a copy of Old World Wisconsin's Blacksmithing Training Manual. Plus you'll leave with the pride in learning a vital trade from the 1800s! Read about one of our instructors, Darold Rinedollar, in a recent feature article published in "American Profile" magazine. Once you've completed this workshop you'll be eligible to participate in the follow-up Intermediate Blacksmithing workshop.

Scandinavian Midsommar Celebration at Old World Wisconsin

Raise the Majstáng and celebrate the solstice in traditional Swedish style with music and dancing. Scandinavian Midsommar activities take place on The Green and are free (admission to the museum is separate). This event is sponsored by the Swedish American Historical Society of Wisconsin.
