Whether you are continuing a family tradition or starting a new one this fall the Elegant Farmer offers a family fun farm experience Saturdays and Sundays.   Everyone is welcome to the orchard to pick apples right from the tree or pumpkins from the patch.  Enjoy beautiful fall colors aboard a tractor-pulled hayride, pony rides or vintage train ride.  Come to try the family-friendly 5 acre corn maze with easy in and out access for all.

Local Author Janet Burroway Presents her New Memoir

Local, award-winning author Janet Burroway will present her newly-published memoir, Losing Tim.  Burroway will share her story and read excerpts of her book, which is nominated for a National Book Award.  She will also talk about her writing process and the art of the memoir.  Losing Tim is a memoir by a mother about a soldier son who killed himself.  It's not an easy read. But it's a beautiful one.  Burroway welcomes readers to grieve along with her, while also providing a lens into how soldiers & military contractors, like her son, are changed by their combat experiences.

Annual Antique and Classic Boat Show Major Event

All-Day Event
At The Abbey Resort, Fontana, on Geneva Lake.  This year the show will feature antique, classic and vintage boats from all over the country.  Admission is free. Highlights include boats ranging in style and age from 1900 to modern reproductions.  There will be an artist's fair including many local and regional artists an their works for sale. There will also be live demonstrations with local artists in their chosen medium. Th annual "starting of the engines" and boat parade will commence at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.  The People's Choice award will be presented on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. >> see more

Lake Geneva Hope Walk

The Lake Geneva Hope Walk is a non-competitive walk that raises funds to fight breast cancer. The Hope Walk started when a group of local women decided to create a fundraiser to help less financially able women in their fight against breast cancer. The Hope Walk has grown to include individuals that come from all over to join in the walk and the fight against breast cancer. This year proceeds go to the Aurora Health Care Breast Treatment Assistance Program. This program helps educate women and defrays medical expenses for uninsured and underinsured women for mammograms. >> see more

Angels Carried Them Away: Death and Mourning in the Victorian Era

Victorians embraced death as a cause for elaborate ritual. During this era, (1876-1915), the ritual of death became increasingly sophisticated and the period saw the development of the modern cemetery, mortician and public funeral complete with floral arrangements and hearse transportation for the deceased.  This program will feature a presentation on Victorian funeral and mourning customs, a first floor house tour and narrated lake boat tour of maritime mishaps on the Lake Geneva Cruise Line. October 4, 11, 18.  $40.00 per person, (space is limited to 34 people per day for this event)

The East Troy Electric Railroad’s family-friendly pizza train offers a two-hour casual dining experience, taking riders from the railroad’s historic depot to Phantom Lake in Mukwonago and back. Dining is aboard former coaches of the Chicago South Shore & South Bend Railroad and includes pizza, beverage and garlic bread. Ticket price varies per number in party. Prepaid reservations are required.
